Our annual audit for our ISO 9001:2015 assessment recently took please and we are delighted with the outcome, which demonstrates our continued commitment to meet the needs of our customers in both service and quality. Our certification through assessor DNV GL (UKAS Management Systems) is valid from Feb 2021 until Feb 2024 and is for the delivery of panel management, valuations, surveys and associated reporting for residential properties.
Valunation brought together its UK wide team of more than 80 surveyors for its annual conference to kick start the New Year with a commitment to excellence. The firm experienced significant growth in 2016, with a 28% increase in surveyor numbers, and one of the aims of the conference was to build on this growth.
The conference had two key themes; the first paid attention to achieving success through a commitment to excellence and rejecting mediocrity. It also highlighted what Valunation will do to support every surveyor and help them to achieve their maximum potential.
The second key focus was the health and wellbeing of all Valunation surveyors. An innovation for this year’s conference included eight round tables and, as well as presentations covering operations, communications and reporting, there was a session on taking care of mental health. The health and wellbeing of the home-based surveying team has been an important focus for Valunation over the past year and has received very positive feedback from surveyors about how measures such as cluster meetings have been a huge success.
Reinforcing Valunation’s concern for the wellbeing of its surveyors, the company welcomed Davina Goodchild, CEO of Lionheart, who gave the opening address. Lionheart is the benevolent fund for past and present members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and their families.
Davina gave delegates an insight into the services available to them as RICS members. The feedback from attendees was incredibly positive both to the Valunation team and to Davina who said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet and speak to so many of your surveyors. Such a positive response… I was smiling all day!”
The varied programme also included technical presentations on building defects and damp, as well as a contribution from a top five lender offering their perspective of current market conditions.
In addition, surveyors were provided with an update on Valunation’s Academy, which launched in 2016, and is managed by Chris Ellis who joined the business to establish a professional development proposition. The company welcomed to the conference the first cohort of AssocRICS qualified surveyors who joined last year, attracted by Valunation’s offering of a first class training and mentoring programme from which to springboard to full fee earning potential.
Alison Beech, managing director of Valunation says, “We significantly increased our surveyor numbers in 2016 and, with our determined growth plans for 2017, this year will be even bigger and better. We know our home-based surveyors relish the opportunity to not only build their CPD in a professional and inspiring way but to also spend time with their colleagues from across the UK. This is just one of the things we do to support our surveyors throughout the year.”
Kent surveyor David Humphrey says, “I thought it was an excellent event, not only for the obvious opportunity to network and socialise but I learnt a lot too, so the CPD allowance is perfectly justifiable”.
